More Mentor Visits & Presentation Boards - February 5, 2024

This previous week in Independent Study & Mentorship has been in full swing in addition to the craziness of all my other classes. While I have been so busy and struggling to handle everything at times, ISM is still by far one of the most rewarding and joyous things I do when I get to meet with my mentor during the week. The ability to be able to do something you truly love through ISM makes the class more of a get to instead of a have to.

Last week again, I got to meet with my incredible mentor Mrs. Neal on Thursday at her office. She was finishing up a call when I arrived and I also got the chance to meet her paralegal who I haven’t got to meet with yet. The paralegal, Mrs. Melanie Carter, was a great help for the meeting and even has a British accent which makes her just even better. I got to complete some work for Mrs. Neal by uploading some of her vacation letters into files as well as filling out some BSV forms from her cases. This was a super cool experience as it is just more and more exposure to the legal world and the specific documents I would see in a legal office. We also towards the end of the meeting got to further discuss my final product of the welcome packet. She provided me with a variety of different documents and information I should include with my packet to create something very beneficial and with purpose.

The other component of my week in Independent Study & Mentorship was creating my presentation board that I will use for the gallery walk this week as well as the final presentation night and our event at UNT. This means the board must be very appealing and professional as I will use it for a variety of upcoming events in ISM. I spent careful time planning this in order to make a presentation board that will represent me and all my research thus far in the class.  Creating the poster board was hard work and took a lot of time to perfect, but it was so worth it to be able to create something I enjoyed and feel that represents me.
