This previous week in Independent Study and Mentorship has felt like a rush of information and things to do as all my classes are beginning to be in full swing again with all of the homework and exams. However, luckily this week I did have time to squeeze in a mentor visit with my fabulous mentor and this time we got to meet in her office. She gave me a tour of their firm’s space and introduced me to some of the other attorneys and paralegals. Everyone was super nice and you could easily tell they all work super hard, but also manage to have fun together. We discussed some aspects of the ISM class that were important and she also conferred with me about some of her cases that are currently going on. It is always so fascinating to hear about these cases especially since most are in high custody which means her day is always filled with tons of drama.
Besides mentor visits this week, I have also begun working on my final product and my original work speech. I incredibly lucked out with my final product as my mentor, Mrs. Neal provided me with some great ideas. After talking through these ideas with her, I decided for my final product that I will make a welcome packet that could be used to give to new clients at a law firm and specific to family law - divorce and child custody. After feeling good about my final product, I was instantly hit in the face that I have to give my 20 minute original work speech in less than 3 days. Thanks Mr. Green:) (JK). I have a general idea of what I am going to talk about, but I really need to get it together before then. Best of wishes for me!
