This previous Friday, we had our Frisco ISD Independent Study & Mentorship Showcase where all students brought their presentation boards and all of their accomplishments from this year to present to the public. Preparing for this event was quite tedious as my presentation board took quite a lot of time if we were being honest. Also, preparing for professionalism was another component that I had not quite thought about before this week. The preparation was a lot of work, but well paid off.
One of my favorite parts of the event was being able to work through all the rooms and look at everyone’s work they have created over the course of the year. There was such a variety of different topics and every board was so unique it made it very fun to look at. I also enjoyed getting to learn more about different topics. After the event started, I would say around 10-15 people came up to my board and I got to share my progress and accomplishments of the year so far. As the night progressed, I got more and more comfortable but it was fun to get to show people what I have been working on and how well it is all coming together. Even two of my non-ism teachers made an appearance which was super fun to get to show them what I have been working on outside of class.
Looking forward past the showcase, two of our biggest events are quickly approaching being our final product due date as well as final presentation night. While I have been slowly working on my final product, I need to continue that and pick it up a little as well while preparing for the final presentation night through my final product. I will also continue my mentor visits and mediation hearings that are upcoming for her! I am looking forward to it and also very grateful for spring break to be in 2 weeks!
